Known for her deep nationalism, Lady Gregory learned the Irish language and even developed her own dramatic dialect, which she named ‘Kiltartanese’. Her home at Coole Park became a hub for major figures of the Irish literary movement, including Synge, Yeats, and Shaw.

William Orpen (1878–1931), one of Ireland’s most celebrated 20th-century artists, was also a deeply influential teacher. His life classes at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art helped shape a new generation of Irish talent.
